Frequently asked questions
Getting started
Where do Sampa Natação lessons take place?
In-person lessons take place at your building’s pool in São Paulo: the coach comes to you at the agreed time. Online training for adults can be done in any pool, in any city or country.
Do I need to know how to swim to start?
No. The Student Journey starts at "Baby fish", with water adaptation, breathing and building confidence, and moves at each student’s pace until all four strokes are mastered.
How do I get started?
In three steps: fill in the form (or message us on WhatsApp), book your assessment and meet your coach, then start your Sampa Journey in the format and frequency you choose.
Do you teach babies and children?
Yes. Babies and children take private lessons or lessons in pairs and small groups, with length adapted to their age; in the first levels of the journey, a parent can join them in the water.
Which format is right for me?
Learners usually start with private or paired lessons; those who already swim independently and want to improve can move on to online training in the app. The initial assessment defines the best format.
Method
What is the Student Journey?
It is Sampa’s progression method, with two stages and eight levels, from Baby fish to Shark. Each step is recorded in the Journey Passport and celebrated with achievements and graduation.
What is the Journey Passport?
It is the record that follows the student through every stage, with their progress and achievements. After completing Stage 1, the student gets a "visa" for the next stage.
What gear do I need?
To start, all you need is a swim cap, goggles and swimwear. Other equipment comes in at later stages of the journey, and the coach will tell you when each item is needed.
Online training and app
Are adult workouts still sent as spreadsheets?
No. Training is now online, in the Sampa Treinos app, which you install from your phone’s browser. Each workout shows the sets with reps, distance, stroke, interval and zone, in large text you can read from the pool edge.
Do I get support during the week?
Yes. Online training includes WhatsApp support from 7 am to 7 pm, progress tracking and video analysis with technique adjustments.
Can I use my swim watch?
Yes. You can upload the activity’s .fit file in the app to see heart rate, laps and pace alongside the prescribed workout.
